Fundamental errors. Wrong sorting. Happens. When I hear "King of the Road", I always see Rüdiger Vogler in Wim Wenders' film "In the Course of Time" in my mind's eye. Old, big MAN furniture truck on a country road. Snapping his fingers on the steering wheel and singing along. So I thought the song was about cars and the majestic feelings that can touch you in the most pleasant way when driving a car. King of the Road alone got to me - and that the situation was out of cigarettes. I didn't listen enough. So now correction. Roger Miller describes a tramp, a hobo, a casual labourer. One who jumps on goods trains and vagabonds across the country. A king of being on the move on rails. I'm a bit disappointed. Be that as it may. The song is from 1965 but still great. Listen to it!
